At a press conference held earlier this morning Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mr. Nebiat Getachew briefed the media on current trending agendas regarding the successful completion of the 15th Ethio-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Commission meeting, Ethiopian returnees from #Saudi Arabia, the upcoming official visit of the President of #Guinea H.E Alpha Conde, Estonia’s President H.E. Kersti Kaljulaid, and H.E. Federica Mogherini, #EUHigh Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to #Ethiopia.
In the briefing Mr. Nebiat disclosed to the media about the successful completion of the 3 day-long 15th Ethio-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Commission comprising 10 Ministerial sectors delegation held in Djibouti. He said, ” Ethiopia and Djibouti Have Close and historical relations with a Shared vision and common destiny and both sides have vowed to upscale ties take it a step further in all domains of cooperation.”
Mr. Nebiat underscored the fact that MFA has been engaging in a series of diplomatic negotiation efforts with Saudi Arabia, Yemen and other countries through our consular, Embassy offices and managed to expatriate 368 Ethiopians in the previous week. Nebiat said, “Citizen- Centered Diplomacy is top priority of our diplomatic mission. We’re fully engaged in exhausting all options on the ground for the safe return of Ethiopians home stranded in several locations and the last 6 months we’ve expatriated 65,000 Ethiopian citizens home which depicts our level and degree of seriousness on this matter.”
Mr. Nebiat accentuated that preparations are underway for the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Africa Union at the Ministry. Several committees are fully taking on duties and responsibilities to warmly welcome “our African brothers and sisters to Ethiopia”. He said, “We look forward for a successful completion of the summit. As a matter of fact Ethiopia intends to make this year’s summit the most colorful, most unique to showcase Ethiopia’s rich wealth of culture through several planned events.”
“The Commemorative Statue of Emperor Haile Selassie is set to be unveiled at the AU Headquarters.”, said the Spokesperson, adding “It will reflect and showcase the history of African liberation, integration, and Emperor Haile Selassie’s unquestionable role in the evolution of Africa’s development agenda.”
Nebiat said during the AU summit week President of #Guinea H.E Alpha Conde, Estonia’s President H.E. Kersti Kaljulaid, and H.E. Federica Mogherini, #EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy will be visiting Ethiopia and hold talks with Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu. The discussions will focus on ways of up scaling bilateral ties with Ethiopia and revamping EU-Ethiopia strategic engagement dialogues.
